If you’re looking for a new car on a tight budget, you have fewer options than ever and sadly this new Hyundai Casper Electric (aka the Hyundai Inster) isn’t among them. For America at least. That’s a shame, because this is no "compliance car" and that’s what makes it special. Yes it’s based on a gasoline Casper, yes the range is well, well below the 300 miles Americans claim they crave, but on the other hand, it starts under $21,000 in Korea. Could it ever be that cheap in the USA? Probably not, but because the battery is made in Korea along with the rest of the Inster, it is possible it could avoid some of the tariffs that are being applied to batteries and vehicles from China…
