Model Y Standard – Everything Tesla Removed – Worth The Savings?

Tesla took the Juniper Model Y and deleted a pile of hardware to hit $39,990. This is every cut that actually matters — not the brochure version.

I walked the Standard in person: no front light bar, slim one-piece headlights, 18-inch aero covers, cloth-mix seats, 7 speakers and no sub, no rear screen, no ventilated seats, smaller battery, slower charge. Some of it you’ll live with. Some of it you’ll notice every day.

What’s gone vs Premium (as of late 2026):
• Front + rear LED light bars
• Adaptive matrix headlights
• 19" alloys → 18" steel + aero covers
• 78 kWh pack → ~69 kWh (321 mi vs 357 mi RWD)
• Peak DC charge cut (about 175–225 kW vs 250 kW)
• 15 speakers + sub → 7 speakers, no sub, no FM
• 8" rear screen
• Ventilated front seats / heated rears
• Full vegan leather → cloth + vinyl mix
• Acoustic laminated front glass
• Ambient lighting
• Power-fold rear seats + rear armrest
• Sealed waterproof frunk
• HEPA / Bioweapon Defense
• Auto-fold / auto-dim mirrors
• Frequency-dependent dampers → passive
