Evidence mounts battery-electric pickup trucks are failing in America. I am going to lay out sobering facts about battery-electric pickup trucks. It’s hard to see how battery-only pickups can be seen as anything but a failing effort.

We analyze Ford F-150 Lightning, the Tesla Cybertruck, Rivian, Hammer EV and Chevy Silverado EV.

As automotive expert and former Torque News EV reporter Eric Evarts writes, "I think the pickup-makers have chosen the wrong targets first (as they often do): Full-sized pickups expected to do full-sized work — with more than full-sized batteries. There are plenty of homeowner-grade trucks out there that could benefit from the efficiency of electric driving without the limitations inherent in battery range for towing, etc. Rivian seems a better example, but still way too expensive with the size batteries they’re using. I’m much more, more optimistic about what Ram is doing with its eREV. More of that, please!"
