Gigafactory Texas! This is where Model Y’s, and Cyber Truck production happens and soon, the Next Generation Car!
Merry Christmas! This will be my last drone flight this week (most likely) so I can celebrate and spend time with family. AS a bonus to my normal main video, I also did a test drone flight while livestreaming onto my YouTube channel and you can check out that video for different views and discussion.
Please note, the audio on that video is a bit choppy mainly due to a well-known DJI drone controller audio issue, but I do have an upgraded unit on the way, so I hope to get that sorted out.

Not a lot of activity at the Giga Texas site today as most employees are enjoying a long Christmas holiday break. Despite this not all activity came to an end, as we see work at the Boring Tunnel West exit and the Southeast corner of the building extension where crews were working on Glass installation, crane moving & White Stain application to the new concrete external panels.
Tesla was also conducting some LiDAR testing using modified Model Y’s with the LIDAY racks on the roof. This activity was on top of the multi-level parking garage where cones marked off some testing spaces. The use of LIDAR is a common practice for ground-truth testing, validation and calibration of Full Self Driving systems and had been observed in California, Texas and many other Tesla testing locations.
The Boring Company crews were very busy at the west Cybertunnel entrance. Crews were positioning and then permanently attaching the stainless-steel skin to the Cybertruck-inspired covering structure today, with most of the windshield area covered and working on the tonneau covering side at the time of my flight.
I did notice a short awning in the shape of the front trunk being constructed over the end of the tunnel, which was a new addition and really helps to complete the Cybertruck overall look. I know these crews are pushing hard to get the tunnel ready for operation and they were hoping to be finished by Christmas. Still time left in the day so let’s see how far they get!
I did notice a major roof repair underway today, with crews removing a large section of the compromised weatherproof membrane and underlying insulation panels. This work is to fix an on-going issue with a large section of the weatherproof membrane over the 4680 cell section … temporary repairs were made & brick added to hold it down in high winds for the past year, but now the repairs are underway!
