Cybertunnel Operating, Prod at Pause, Crash Test Trenching. 20 Jan 2025 Giga Texas Update (012:35PM)

From Joe Tegtmeyer.

Gigafactory Texas! This is where Model Y’s, Cyber Truck the Next Generation Car(s), Cybercab & the Optimus Robot production happens in 2025!

After 11 days at Starbase for the launch of Starship Flight 7, I’m back at Giga Texas and was able to get in a flight before a strong winter storm hits the area and will make flying and travelling unwise through mid-week. Fortunately, despite the cold and windy conditions, the skies were blue, and I got in a full flight!

In the video introduction, I summarize some of the highlights form my Starbase trip, including a massive beach Cybertruck light show, me getting an unexpected honorary Mayoral plaque from the Tesla Cybertruck Owners Association (very cool), the stacking process of the Starship ahead of flight, and a short clip during my livestream with Ellie in Space of the Booster return and catch, complete with sonic boom reactions!

Also in the introduction, I show the progress of the Cybertunnel covering structure, which is nearly completed, the glass installation on the south extension, and some Cybercab testing underway at the time of my flight.

Plenty more to see in the video including work at the electrical switchyard and many screw-type piers installed on the graded section just to the south of the switchyard.

We also see trenching and storm water pipe installation around the Crash Testing facility and the west side of the DIE shop where the berm is being further widened to allow for this work.

Production is at a near standstill at this moment in time, both for retooling of the Cybertruck line and the Model Y lines. I am hearing rumors that the refreshed Model Y may be available for orders in the US soon, and if these rumors are correct, we should start seeing the new Model Y’s beginning to exit the factory soon.

Much more to see and talk about in the main video today!
