The average price of newly registered electric cars, excluding optional extras and subsidies, rose by more than 4,000 euros to 52,700 euros in Germany this year, slowing the transition to climate-friendly mobility, according to the Center of Automotive Management.

German carmaker Volkswagen is recalling more than 60,000 electric cars in the United States, affecting both Volkswagen and Audi models. The U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said Friday the recalled vehicles fail to display some gear positions, which could lead to the cars rolling away if the parking brake is not engaged, increasing the risk of a crash.
