Nissan has revealed its smallest new EV – and underneath the distinctive styling, there’s a very familiar car. The new Nissan Pixo shares its battery, motor, platform and plenty of technology with the Renault Twingo E-Tech.
But Nissan insists this isn’t simply a Twingo with a different badge. So, has it done enough to give the Pixo its own identity?
In this first look, Ginny takes a detailed walkaround of the new Pixo, including its retro-inspired styling, pixel details and some clever Nissan Easter eggs. We also take a look inside at the 10-inch touchscreen, Google built-in, Gemini AI, Face ID and the clever sliding rear seats.
The Pixo gets a 27.5kWh LFP battery, giving it a claimed 161-mile WLTP range, with 50kW DC rapid charging and 11kW AC charging standard across the range. There’s also one-pedal driving and vehicle-to-load capability.
At just 3.79 metres long, it’s designed for life in the city – but Nissan has managed to find space for a 356-litre boot, including a 50-litre storage area for the charging cables.
Pricing hasn’t been confirmed yet, but Nissan says the Pixo will be positioned in the affordable end of the EV market. We’re expecting it to start around the same sort of money as the Renault Twingo, potentially around £19,000.
So, is the Pixo different enough from the Twingo to tempt buyers away from its Renault sibling? And has Nissan finally managed to put enough of its own character into a shared platform?
