Model Y Delivery Event, Final Glass Install, Cortex 2.0! 10 March 2025 Giga Texas Update (09:15AM)

From Joe Tegtmeyer.

Gigafactory Texas! This is where Model Y’s, and Cyber Truck production happens and in 2025, the Next Generation Car(s), Cybercab & the Optimus Robot!

I’m back on site flying after almost 2 weeks away at Starbase for Starship Flight8. While I was away, many changes and areas of progress took place, so for today, I’ll fly around much of the site looking for and discussing many of the changes plus some significant updated information that I’ve received in that time.

In the video introduction, I discuss several news items, starting with my trip to Starbase Recap. My time there was longer than expected as SpaceX had to deal with several issues, a scrubbed launch attempt, rework inside Ship 34, the hot staging ring, a misalignment on a stacking attempt and a problem with one of the skates on the chopsticks, The flight finally happened on 6 March and although the booster was caught for the third time successfully, there was a repeated RUD with Starship itself, almost in the same phase of flight and circumstances as with flight 7, so it’s back to work figuring out the problems and fixes for the talented SpaceX employees.

Also, this weekend, here at Giga Texas (and repeated at all Tesla factories world-wide) a huge delivery event took place for new Model Y owners. The event had a display of all Tesla models, past to present, tours of the production lines, rides through the Cybertunnel, off road in Cybertrucks in the north “lone tree” lot (just NE of the cathode plant), and of course deliveries of new Model Ys to excited owners! It’s great that Tesla doe3s events like this for its customers and I hope we see more of this in the future!

There were also Cybercab demonstrations and testing underway during the weekend delivery event, and I show a ground-level video clip of two Cybercabs driving by. These two were special as they had markings indicating these were built here at Giga Texas on the new production line currently being completed inside the factory.

The final big piece of news I cover in the intro is the confirmation by Elon Musk that there will be more than one Cortex installations here at Giga Texas, confirming what I have heard internally that the new central campus support facility under major construction on the north end is for Cortex 2. Cortex 1 is in the new extension to the factory on the south end, serving these two energy hungry datacenters (used to train AI such as FSD, Optimus Robots and more) will be a new Megapack site currently under construction and a doubling in size and energy capacity of the N electrical switchyard.

There are a lot of developments in the video today and I talk through all of them during my narration, including Caisson construction, a new tunnel boring machine on site to tunnel connections between the caissons. Also, the graded construction site on the north is progressing rapidly, now with drilling rigs on site preparing piles to strengthen the soil for construction and what appears to be a new water detention pond on the west side.

Make sure you check out todays video for more … it’s a long one but I get you caught up on everything that has changed in 2 weeks!
