In this video, join Nicki Shields as she puts two of the most affordable electric cars on the market head-to-head: the Leapmotor T03 and the 2025 Dacia Spring. As the EV landscape continues to evolve, both models offer a tempting entry point into electric motoring,
but which one makes the most sense for buyers looking for an efficient, budget-friendly city car?
Design & Practicality
Both the Dacia Spring and Leapmotor T03 take a compact, urban-friendly approach, but they go about it in slightly different ways. The Dacia Spring sticks to its rugged, crossover-inspired styling with raised ground clearance and a no-frills, practical design. Meanwhile, the Leapmotor T03 adopts a more modern, rounded design with a clean, minimalist
look. Inside, both offer basic but functional cabins, though the Leapmotor boasts a more premium feel thanks to a larger infotainment screen and digital driver display.
Performance & Range
When it comes to power, the Leapmotor T03 has the advantage, packing a 109hp motor compared to the 65hp unit in the Dacia Spring. This gives the T03 noticeably quicker acceleration, making it feel more at home on faster roads. However, the Spring prioritises efficiency, with a lightweight construction that helps maximise range.
Speaking of range, both offer enough for city use, but the Leapmotor T03 claims around 170 miles (WLTP), while the Dacia Spring manages around 137 miles (WLTP) on a full charge. However, real-world efficiency and charging speed also play a key role—so which one is easier to live with?
Technology & Features
Dacia keeps things simple with a 7-inch infotainment system, basic smartphone connectivity, and manual air conditioning, while the Leapmotor T03 offers a more tech-focused experience, including a 10.1-inch touchscreen, a digital instrument cluster, and extra driver assistance features. But is more tech always better, or does Dacia’s simplicity make for a more user-friendly experience?
Price & Value
Price is a huge factor in this segment, and the Dacia Spring remains one of the most affordable EVs in Europe. The Leapmotor T03 costs slightly more but offers extra performance and features. So, is it worth the extra spend, or does the Spring’s rugged charm and simplicity make it the better choice?
