This is a video about "Nissan Leaf Emergency Power"
We have had a BLACKOUT ! Can our Nissan Leaf power our house?
#nissanleaf #electriccars #EV
P.S. This was implemented as a temporary solution in an emergency. This is a story of our experience, and does not go too deep into the technical guff.
We were initially using ELCB (Earth leakage Circuit breakers). But because we were using two galvanically (no direct current path between input and output) isolated power sources, we realised ELCB was not going to operate safely in this circumstance, so we stopped using them.
For our safety, we deliberately choose an "Australian electrically approved" pure sine wave inverter, which had galvanic isolation. Always consult with your local electrician, who has experience with inverters, and such devices. Also read the documentation that came with your inverter.
Sit back relax, put another shrimp on the Barbie (BBQ)
Enjoy this episode
Cheers Karen and Shane
