I’m in Maui with a 2023 Tesla Model 3 RWD rental and I decided to run a full battery health test on the LFP pack after draining it to 5%. I calibrated it with two back-to-back 100% charges, ran the service-menu battery health test overnight, and the results were… not what I hoped.

I show how to tell it’s an LFP (charge limit UI + additional vehicle info), how I used Tessie (showing ~7.7% degradation while I had it), and the exact numbers from the test: drove ~110–115 miles with AC blasting (~340 Wh/mi), the car used ~61.2 kWh and added ~55.6 kWh (91% efficiency), finished charging at ~9:35am, and the health report came back at 90% SOH at ~25,832 miles. The test took about 18 hours total and the final state was a bit of a surprise — I expected closer to 92–95% for an LFP pack. I also call out rental quirks (hotel GE WattStation 30A, non-authenticated charging, premium connectivity thoughts) and give a pro tip: stop charging immediately before starting the test so it doesn’t skew the results.
