A spokesperson from Tesla China clarified to the National Business Daily (NBD) that rumors suggesting that the Cybertruck will start sales in China on January 1, 2025 are false information.
The Tesla China spokesperson also highlighted that there are “no such plans” for the Cybertruck to start sales in the country next month.
Tesla will begin production of the refreshed Model Y, codenamed Juniper, in January, domestic media reported today. In addition to the facelifted 5-seater SUV, Giga Shanghai will deliver a three-row 6-seater Model Y in the fourth quarter of 2025.

Electric vehicle maker Tesla has begun construction of a factory in Shanghai to make its Megapack energy storage batteries, Chinese state media reported Thursday. The $200 million plant in Shanghai’s Lingang pilot free trade zone will be the first Tesla battery plant outside the United States.

Tesla China sold 78,856 vehicles in November, including 5,366 for export, according to the China Passenger Car Association (CPCA). The US EV maker sold 73,490 vehicles in China in November, its highest month of the year, CnEVPost’s calculations show. That’s up 12.19 percent from 65,504 vehicles a year ago and 81.52 percent from 40,485 in October.
