From Alex on Autos.
Volvo’s XC90 has been a runaway sales success, so it’s no surprise that the EX90 isn’t replacing the XC, it’s complementing it as a second flagship of sorts. The EX and XC are almost the same size, they seat the same number of people, and oddly, they are pretty similar when it comes to 0-60. On the other hand the XC and EX nothing save a few fasteners. Window switches? Nope, those are new (and quirky), seat controls? Ditto.
Ready for the "but?" But… The EX90 is a hair underdone. The software, smartphone integration, phone as key, seat controls, and some of the driver assistance systems are in need of more development time. Everything is "more baked" than in the Polestar 3 we recently drove, but it’s not quite ready yet. If you want something more complete, you’ll have to wait 6+ months. Also: we’re still not sure what the LIDAR will do for us…
