Why does BMW iX3 hit a max charge rate 403 kW and 10–80% in ~21 minutes on one Tesla “V4” Supercharger but only 193 kW and ~35 minutes on another also marked as V4? This question is answered throughout the video as I break down Supercharger generations (V2, V3, V3.5 vs true 1000 V / 500 kW V4), why Tesla’s network was built for 400 V cars, and the three ways 800 V EVs engineer around a 400V charging limitation: dedicated boosters (Taycan), motor/inverter boost (Hyundai/Kia, Lucid), and pack splitting (iX3, Cybertruck). In this video I also share actual charging data for the iX3, Lucid Gravity, and Cybertruck to demonstrate the real-world charging differences on different types of Tesla Superchargers. At the end I also reveal why the Cybertruck saves surprisingly little time charging on Tesla’s new 1,000 V hardware vs their V3 Superchargers.
