Tesla Cybertruck vs Arctic Ocean – Electrifying the Dempster Highway

From Bearded Tesla Guy.

The Tesla Cybertruck is one of the most polarizing trucks on the road today. While some love it, others hate it, and there doesn’t seem to be much middle ground here. But when it comes down to it, it’s an electric truck, which means it has limitations, right?

@TesLatino and I decided to embark on one of the greatest adventures you could possibly take, driving our Tesla Cybertrucks from Central and Southern Florida, all the way up and through Canada, to the Arctic Ocean. By the time we arrived in Tuktoyaktuk, we had traversed some 5,000 miles, all in a matter of days.

You may have heard that EV’s can’t handle this, or can’t handle that. Well, we decided to show once and for all that EV’s CAN handle these extremely remote places, and going to the end of the world seems about as remote as it gets.

The Dempster Highway is notorious for its unforgiving rough terrain, as it is a dirt road, built upon permafrost, and is always shifting due to weather conditions. This road, at certain times of the year, will kill you if you aren’t careful. It is a true testament to the build quality of the Tesla Cybertruck that not only did we have zero issues, we actually were able to experience a far more superior ride comfort than others on the route.

This mission was not just about showing that EV’s can make it to the Arctic Ocean, but it was also to blaze a trail for those that come after us. As it was, there are no chargers of any kind north of Dawson City. This is a problem as the Arctic Ocean is about 470 miles beyond the gold mining town. To overcome this, we were able to secure 6 level 2 destination chargers to take along with us and install strategically along the route.

In the process, we were able to work with local business, 1 in Eagle Planes, 2 in Inuvik, and the town of Tuktoyaktuk to install these chargers. These level 2 chargers mean that EV’s can get enough juice overnight to continue their journey, rather than scavenging for an outlet somewhere and wait for days for their vehicle to charge.

With these new chargers in place, all EV’s now have reliable access to real charging infrastructure along the Dempster. Electrifying the Dempster means that a new stream of tourism can take on this daring adventure and come see the local cultures for themselves, help revitalize the local economies, and leave a mark of their own saying "I was here."

So the next time someone tells you that EV’s "can’t do xyz" just send them over to this video so they can see for themselves that the future is NOW.
