Flagpole Easter Egg, Tunnel Megapack & Casting Sorting Lot! 21 Oct 2024 Giga Texas Update (07:35AM)

From Joe Tegtmeyer.

Gigafactory Texas! This is where Model Y’s, and Cyber Truck production happens and soon, the Next Generation Car!

I’ve heard of Easter eggs, and that Tesla is fond of placing these around its publications, factories and products, but I never thought I’d get a very special one! On the top of the flagpole with the Tesla flag, the Tesla Hedgehog and a “Hi Joe” was drawn on the gold finial ball and this is only viewable via a drone! I am very honored that Tesla would do this for me and to have been able to find it and then share it with everyone. Truly a one-of-a-kind experience and a lot of fun too!

In the video introduction, I also discuss some important updates and work with the Boring Company tunnel. This includes not only the installation of more of the tunnel road surface panels, but also some Megapacks that have now been installed inside the south extension near the tunnel opening. I have heard these will be used to help charge newly completed Cybertrucks before they head over to the outbound lot vial the tunnel. I am not sure if this is a temporary solution while power is being routed to the south end or if this is a permanent installation, but in either case, this indicates the tunnel is getting closer to being used!

The final item I discuss in the intro is the upcoming Tesla 3rd Quarter Financial Results meeting on Wednesday from Giga Texas. This should be an interesting one as Tesla did very well with production and deliveries in the 3rd quarter and they may do well with margins and financials, especially with the worldwide installations of more Megapack systems.

A few other highlights to look for in the images and video today:

The south exit tunnels and grade work appear to be completed and now preparations for a paved road on the top level and concrete walkways on the middle level are underway. Roof drains are also in place pointed at the Cyberpond.

The cooling plant is getting the last concrete apron prepped with rebar and forms and this will complete this section between the south extension and the cooling plant and protect the large manifold pipe under this section. In addition, the temporary loading platform in this area and on the side of the south extension has been removed.

Many deliveries of the SEDAK glass panels for the west side of the south extension are ready for installation, and the lifting jig with suction cups is stationed next to the crane that will lift the panels into place. The mounting strips along the perimeter grade bean and the second-floor beams are all in place along with the glad mounting tabs, so we should see this work begin soon.

On the north end of the factory, we see a large robotic assembler in silver wrapping and associated equipment being delivered to the 4680 battery cell section of the factory. Nearby, the new castings sorting lot has had casting racks placed throughout both the trimmed and untrimmed sections of the lot and it has filled up with castings. It appears more markings for casting temporary storage have been painted along the berm just east of the casting machine section, likely for overflow storage of castings waiting for movement into the factory for production.

The steel structure on the east side of casting is getting both roof and wall decking installed and the valley drain has had weatherproof membranes installed. The bag House filtration plant has had more assembly of large ducting and pipes on the ground and second levels.

Thank you for watching and I hope this has been informative, educational, and entertaining for you. If you would like, please consider supporting me via Patreon (link is in the description of this video and in the video itself) so I can continue to make and share these incredible videos.

Again, I want to thank Tesla for the unique and very much cherished honor of having my name placed at the top of the flagpoles. Very cool!
