A new study claims that replacing an electric vehicle battery will soon cost less than fixing the engine of a gas car. This is one of the most notable arguments that supporters of combustion engines use to attempt to disprove the effectiveness of electric vehicles.
EV battery replacement will soon cost less than fixing a gas engine: study
For obvious reasons, batteries cannot be left to rot in landfills. Even for those who don’t care about the environment or chemical leaching, EV batteries contain too many precious metals to throw away. (Lithium isn’t getting any easier to mine.) With that in mind, here is what happens to EV batteries after they are too tired to ride, and what the future may hold.

EV batteries have a finite lifespan and gradually undergo degradation – a process of chemical and physical changes that reduce their ability to hold a charge over time. As a result, battery performance diminishes with age, raising important questions for potential buyers of new or used battery EVs regarding battery longevity, the durability of their components, and the options when it reaches the end of its life.
