Gigafactory Texas! This is where Model Y’s, Cyber Truck the Next Generation Car(s), Cybercab & the Optimus Robot production happens in 2025!
Today at Giga Texas, I observed significant construction and production activities, including the movement of numerous Model Y vehicles to the outbound lot. I got here early hoping to be able to get good interior views, but traffic delayed me too long, and I was only able to get some interior views of the south end extension before it got too light with the sunrise despite the clouds.
I noticed a lot of work, deliveries & changes on the south extension area today, as well as up both at the renovated old batch plant, electrical switchyard and the demolition of the old Martin Marietta Bach plant.

An interesting display of the new Model Y’s was over at the west main entrance where red, white and silver cars were parked, giving us a great view for comparison along with one older Model Y for reference. I also noted several long trains for Model Y’s driving over to the outbound lot, but at least in the groups I was able to see, human drivers were still being used.
Starting with the construction updates, ongoing work is apparent near the south bridge of the factory. The east side caisson appears to have reached its final depth, with no further excavation required, although substantial efforts are needed to complete the final connections.
At the southeast side of the south extension, a new cooling or chilling unit was observed being unloaded from a semi-truck and being moved inside using a crane. This area remains without glass, likely to facilitate the installation of large equipment items beforehand.
The disassembly and decommissioning of the old Martin Marietta concrete batch plant continue at an accelerated pace. Although soil testing rigs were absent, indicating completion, extensive earthwork is underway, removing old concrete aprons and breaking them up with impactors. Additionally, the berm between the DIE shop and the old plant is being widened.
Renovation work at the old temporary batch plant north of the electrical switchyard suggests it is nearing operational status. At the north end, next to the lined pond, concrete work for the truck washout appears complete, with an additional bay finished since the last update. On the east side, more materials necessary for concrete production have been delivered, and concrete apron work around the batch plant equipment is complete, indicating imminent operation.
Further to the south, work continues at the electrical switchyard, particularly at the new large third transformer installation site, where final connections are being made. Additionally, crews are working on the underground vault beneath the three control trailers, and I noticed a new fence around these trailers, bifurcating this section form the main electrical switchyard.
On the south side, I noticed conduit was being installed in the perimeter trenches and beam work atop the screw-type piers is nearing completion, suggesting that electronic items, likely transformers, will soon be installed. Movement observed at the temporary transformer storage location indicates what I believe is the likely relocation of transformers to the south side of the electrical switchyard in the near future.
Of particular interest today, the east temporary parking lot now contains numerous Cybertrucks undergoing extended HVAC testing, as indicated by signs and condensation on the windows. This extensive testing suggests adjustments to the HVAC system, possibly involving new Cybertruck models (e.g. the RWD version) set for release later this year.
