Aptera – The Tesla of Solar Cars of the Future!!

Aptera Motors shared with the world an idea not that long ago. This idea was to take everything that is great about a Tesla, and morph it into an uber efficient, solar powered electric car. What came out? The Aptera, or the solar powered car of the future.

Aptera Motors didn’t stop there, they actually wanted this to be more than just a simple range killer. Aptera has developed this car with 4 range trims which includes 250, 400, 600 and 1,000 miles. On top of that, you can get this in front wheel drive, or all-wheel-drive (all 3 wheels).

Further configuring of the Aptera shows you the option to add a number of solar options. You can add solar on the dash, solar on the roof, and solar for the back lift gate. All together, the Aptera is claimed to be able to accept up to 700 watts of solar power at once. So bringing along 600 watts of portable solar panels will allow you to maximize the solar charging on this car.

So how much does it cost to take delivery of a Solar powered head turner? Well, this is quite possibly the best part. The Aptera starts at $26,000 for the entry level and tops out at $45,000 for the 1,000 mile variant, before additional options.

So unlike many new cars being announced these days, the Aptera is actually relatively affordable. That said, this car does only have 2 seats, and is limited in cargo space. If you were hoping to take the family, and all your luggage, you may be disappointed. This car will be useful for a daily commuter, weekend car, or every day transportation for 1 or 2 person households.
