Nothing impacts the performance of your car more than tires. But when you’re buying tires, it can be overwhelming trying to figure out what you should be buying for your vehicle. In this video we’re not just going to understand the difference between summer, all-season, all-weather, all-terrain, and winter tires, but we’re also going to explain the why – the science and the engineering behind tires.
We’ll cover in great detail the four variables, or levers, that a tire manufacturer has to change the performance characteristics of a tires: tread pattern, compound, construction, and contour. And with each of these variables, we’ll look at what it affects, and provide examples of how it changes a tire.
Finally, once we understand all of the science behind tires, we can clearly discuss through each of the different tire types, their advantages and disadvantages, and thus give you everything you need to know about tires before your next tire purchasing decision.
