In most places around the world, going to fast charge an electric car usually involves finding a few unloved fast charging points in the rear of an unknown, half-deserted shopping mall, or perhaps in a corner of a Walmart.

For those who travel alone, those out-of-the-way charging sites can feel anything but safe.

But on our recent trip to the UK, we discovered the future of charging courtesy of @GRIDSERVE, a revolutionary new way to think about how we charge up, what we do while our car charges – and even how we buy (or lease) our cars going forward.

The question we’re left with is pretty simple: If it’s this good, why hasn’t every part of the world followed suit?
