BREAKING: Tesla Restructures Option Pricing, FSD Beta HW4, Deliveries Record, Most American Made

Tesla has been all over headlines this last couple of weeks. Between the frequent Cybertruck sightings, recent Q2 delivery results, cars.com Most American Made list and so m much more, its hard to keep up with everything going on.

Just last night, Tesla made some changes to their options pricing structure. They didn’t raise prices necessarily, but they did change the prices on certain paint colors. Historically Tesla has made changes to the so called "base" color option, or the color you can configure your Model Y or Model 3 in without any additional charge. The original color was Black back when the Model 3 launched. That changed to white before the launch of the Model Y and since then has been a White or Midnight Silver Metallic for free. Then Tesla moved everything back to White being the base color for Model 3 and Model Y orders.

Just last night, Tesla has once again changed the "free" or included color for all Model Y and Model 3 orders. Midnight Silver Metallic is now the included color for new orders, and White is now a $1,000 option. No other changes to pricing of other colors appears to have happened, but this is sure to shift the masses of Teslas on the road from White to MSM.

When looking at Tesla’s existing inventory, they have already reflected these new prices with standing Model 3 and Model Y’s in inventory. You will now see MSM Model 3 and Model Y’s are $1k less and White is $1k more. These cars, and all future cars, will be at these new price points for the foreseeable future.

Last night we also had somewhat of a news break as a software update went out to HW4 cars. This software update appears to include the code for FSD Beta, which has been unavailable to all HW4 cars, the Model Y, Model S and Model X. Although this is promising to see the software update include FSD Beta in the background, it is important to note that you still will not be able to activate FSD Beta on a HW4 car. With that said, we expect to see HW4 Beta access coming very soon.

Next up, Tesla has improved their already commanding position atop the cars.com top 10 Most American Made cars list. This year, Tesla saw the Model Y and Model 3 retain their title as the number 1 and number 2 most American made cars. The Model X has improved to the number 3 spot and the Model S is now the number 4 most American made car. This puts Tesla at the top of the ranking filling in spots 1-4 with their complete offering.

Finally we had the results of Q2 deliveries for $TSLA. Tesla has once again set a new record for Quarterly deliveries. Wall Street estimated 448k deliveries and Tesla ended up delivering 466k cars. This far exceeded the estimate and beat last quarters record by 10%. This puts Tesla at nearly 900k vehicles delivered in 2023, with a full year target of 1.8M cars.
