Gigafactory Texas! This is where Model Y’s, and Cyber Truck production happens and soon, the Next Generation Car!

Rainy Day at the site caused me to delay several hours before the rains cleared enough for me to fly. With the low clouds, I had to stay at a low altitude for most of the flight but that turned out OK as we get to see a lot of interesting things going on around the site!

First off, I want to address questions about Cybertruck production and the halt this week as noted yesterday some media. There is in fact a halt this week but most of this is due to reconfiguration work at the south end of the production line near where the boring tunnel entrance is located. Crews are busy finishing up the tunnel on this side to allow the Cybertrucks to transit under the highway and to the outbound lot.

In order to do this, the current temporary route out of the factory for the newly built Cybertrucks needs to be changed and rerouted to the tunnel. I think the goal is to start using the tunnel for the Cybertrucks sometime the week of 16 December, so this is some of the final work to make that happen.

On the west side of the Boring Company Tunnel, crews were also busy with the concrete main entrance ramp, poles for the tunnel covering, electrical systems & steel housing structure and more to get this ready for operations too. The funnel exit shows the roadway will allow both north and south traffic flow, and soon we should see the last of the asphalt paving installed along this location.

The outbound lot had a large grouping of Cybertrucks on the southeast corner, while the entire west side was filled with Model Y’s getting loaded up on transport trucks. During the halt in Cubertruck production, it seems Tesla is focusing on making a lot more Model Y’s which may be related to getting the Fremont factory prepared for the new refresh Model Y sometime in early 2025. Both factories will be switched over to the new Model Y in 2025, so work is also underway inside Giga Texas to prepare for this major change.
