Cross Country road trip in my Tesla Cybertruck comes all the way northwest of Florida to the metro area of Salt Lake City. After joining in on the fun, and in support of @JerryRigEverything book drive to stock the shelves at their new library in Kenya, I arrive outside Zack’s new shop where he manufactures the highest quality wheelchairs faster and cheaper than the industry norm.
After arriving in Salt Lake City, Zack invited me inside to take a look as they are finishing installation of critical equipment used in the manufacturing of wheelchairs. This first look gives us a glimpse behind the scenes of how a Not A Wheelchair is made.
Much like Tesla, Not A Wheelchair has focused on simplification in design and manufacturing to get a product that is better and cheaper than what exists today. Through the use of various equipment, such as lasers, press brakes, and milling equipment, Zack is able to make these customizable wheelchairs in about 4 hours, as compared to the industry norm of 4-6 months!
Following a strong crowd funding initiative with gold plated JerryRig Knife’s, Zack was able to raise money to help pay for an industrial scale air compressor that is vital in the construction of wheelchairs.
As Not A Wheelchair is about to kick off official operations at their new factory, we wish them all the best and look forward to watching the company continue to grow!
