Glass Arrives, Casting Storage & Looking forward to 2025! 18 October 2024 Giga Texas Update(07:55AM)

From Joe Tegtmeyer.

Gigafactory Texas! This is where Model Y’s, and Cyber Truck production happens and soon, the Next Generation Car!

I’m back flying at Giga Texas after a week off to attend the Tesla We, Robot event at the Warner Brothers Studios in Burbank California, visit the SpaceX Hawthorne, CA facilities, Livestream the highly successful Flight 5 of Starship, and complete another drone update of the Tesla Corpus Christi Lithium Plant.

It’s only been 7 days, yet there are many new developments around the site and in the product line for Tesla, including many which will take place here at Giga Texas through 2025. It’s going to be a truly transformative year for the company and much of what we will see is now in motion, so buckle up!

In the video introduction, I talk about the We, Robot event and how what we saw and heard will play a role at Giga Texas. The fork in the road is literally and figuratively here at the southwest corner of Giga Texas which we saw being installed on my last video and represents the change form the way things were to where we and Tesla are going with AI. Inside the south end extension, the new Cortex supercomputer datacenter is coming online, first at the 150 MW power level at the start of 2025 and building up to the full 500 MW power levels at the end of 2025.

We discuss the cooling system for the data center, the upgrades currently underway to the electrical power systems to support the power requirements, and the arrival of 144 transformers that are waiting for installation as part of these overall upgrades to allow the training for both the Full Self Driving cars and the Tesla Optimus Robot.

I also point out that the newly unveiled Robotaxi will be built here at Giga Texas, with production line setup through 2025. In addition to that, there is at least one or possibly two new vehicles based on the Model 3 and Model Y that will be built at Giga Texas using existing production lines, and this is still expected int eh first half of 2025.

Other highlights to look for today:

The glass deliveries I mentioned would arrive the week of 14 October have been made and this will be part of completing the exterior of the new south extension, starting with the west side of the structure.

The Boring Company continues to deliver replacement road surface panels from their Bastrop production facility and these are being used inside the tunnel to provide the drivable road surfaces necessary for new vehicles to transfer through the tunnel over the west side End-of-Line (EOL)facility and outbound lots.

The Bag House plant and steel receiving door cover structure on the east side of the casting machine facility continues to see assembly and both structures are quickly approaching their final forms.

A new casting storage and processing lot has been configured on the north end, turning a parking lot into a newly paved and marked centralized location … this is part of an overall process being put into play by the people who manage the casting section to have a better way to manage and process the castings instead of placing them on the ground around the main factory.
