From Transport Evolved.
For many years, we were fans of the JuiceBox line of charging stations. They were well made, durable, and offered some pretty advanced energy management features at a competitive price. And, while they were still being made by EMotorWerks – the original company that designed them, service and support was pretty good.
But after that company was acquired – the JuiceNet software that gave the JuiceBoxes their smarts became increasingly unreliable. Then, in January this year, EnelX, the owner of the JuiceNet platform, forced everyone to switch to a new cloud software that was not only unreliable but removed many of the features we’d come to love.
In our case, we couldn’t even get our hardware to work any more.
So, in keeping with our pledge, we’re starting the journey of opening up our charging stations and replacing the hardware inside with something open-source, fixable, and free from cloud services.
