Short Video of SpaceX Starlink, Boring Company, Hyperloop Plaza & X Hq in Bastrop, Texas 18 Feb 2025

From Joe Tegtmeyer.

This is a short video clip showing the progress and expansion of several facilities in Bastrop, Texas associated with the Elon Musk economy in central Texas.

The SpaceX Starlink facility has grown to over 1 million sq feet (~93,000 Sq m) of production space. SpaceX’s Bastrop facility is a major hub for Starlink production, and in September 2024, SpaceX President Gwynne Shotwell announced that the Bastrop site would become the "largest printed circuit board manufacturing facility in the entire United States" and surpass Southeast Asia in production efficiency. Printed circuit boards (PCBs) are critical components of Starlink dishes, and this statement highlights the scale of circuit board fabrication happening there. Elon Musk, as the visionary behind SpaceX, has indirectly endorsed this development through his broader comments on Starlink’s growth and his social media activity.

The Boring Company facility is the only Tunnel Boring Machine (TBM) production site in the United States and builds the Prufrock series of TBMs which have been used for the Las Vegas Loop, a tunnel at Giga Texas and the recently announced "Dubai Loop." On February 13, 2025, The Boring Company, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) to develop this underground transportation system in Dubai, United Arab Emirates which is an indication of the expanding presence of the Boring Company around the world.

The Hyperloop Plaza is a community center open to the public and serves the surrounding facilities for food, groceries, barber shops, entertainment and more.

Finally, in 2024, X.com moved its headquarters from San Francisco, CA to this site along with the X Trust & Safety center. This was part of the re-incorporation of X from California to Texas.

Together, the facilities represent a large and growing part of the Elon Musk Texas economy, and nearby is Giga Texas, Tesla’s Hq and production site of the Model Y and Cybertruck. Farther south is the Space X Headquarters in Starbase, Texas and the SpaceX rocket testing & Raptor production site in McGreagor, Texas.
