Tesla Charger with Cheap Outlet = DISASTER

From Bearded Tesla Guy.

While plugging in my Tesla Charger last night into our NEMA 14-50 plug, I was hit with 240V and an unknown amount of amps. The power in the entire breaker panel was killed in the blink of an eye. This outlet made by Levion is no made to be suitable for EV chargers. These are made to withstand only a few plug in and unplug cycles and rated for minimal use throughout their life. If your professional does not leave you feeling confident in their capabilities, move on to the next guy. When they are installing, look up the equipment they are using to make sure it is suitable for this type of application. This could have burned the house down, it could have and probably should have killed me. I was lucky, and I hope this helps to save you too!
