Tesla Cybertruck CyberTent Review – Is It Worth The LARGE Price Tag?!?!

From Bearded Tesla Guy.

The Tesla Cybertruck released earlier this year, and with its release was the sneak peak of the CyberTent. This tent was specifically designed for the Cybertruck and brings in cues of the angular Cybertruck design to make it look like it was designed for the truck.

Having had the Cybertruck now for 5 months, I have had a chance to get to know the truck pretty well. With a recent software update, I now have the ability to set the truck in camp mode, which will automatically level the suspension for a flat even surface to camp in.

Just recently, I was able to get my hands on the new CyberTent from Tesla, and I also had a chance to really experience camping in this tent in a cross country road trip. The CyberTent offers a number of thoughtful features, but also has some drawbacks.

For starters, the CyberTent was obviously designed specifically for the Cybertruck, which means it fits very nicely in the truck, and sets up nicely as well. Other tent options can work, but only the CyberTent was developed specifically for the Cybertruck.

There are numerous pockets to hold things like lights, glasses, phones, iPads and more. It also has 4 windows that can be opened for a nice breeze, or closed to keep in as much heat as possible. It also features a setup that will accommodate the upcoming range extender that fits nicely underneath the Tent when folded or set up. Additionally, it was designed to be easy to setup and pack away with an air frame, requiring only 8 lbs to erect.

On the downside, the tent is $3,000, which is on the high end for rooftop tents. In this price point you usually find a hard shell enclosure, ultra thin design, and other features not found on the CyberTent. Additionally, you can’t seal off the truck bed for security or to keep wildlife out when the tent is set up as it goes over the tailgate, preventing it from being closed.

After numerous times setting the tent up and tearing it down, I have come up with an average time of 10 minute for setup, and 15 minutes for teardown. If you also use the Awning which is easily stored separate, this adds about 5 minutes to the overall setup. All in all, this isn’t bad, and side by side with a small 2 person tent that goes on the ground, I was set up 1 minute faster with the CyberTent than the regular ground tent.

In summary, the Tent is worth it if you will be car camping frequently. It is at the top end of the market in price, but also is so well integrated into the truck. If you only plan to camp a time or 2, it may not be worth the hefty price as this does require dealer install, and once its in, I am not sure how easy it will be to remove.
