From Out of Spec Dave.
Be careful when opening your liftgate in a garage. Ours was set too high in our Model Y and it hit a garage door metal bracket when opening and it chipped the paint which now needs repair. To help others avoid this, I show you how to set the rise height of the lift gate in this video to prevent minor damage from occuring.
In addition, please be super careful in close in maneuvering with your no-sensor/vision based only Tesla’s. While it’s remarkable how much Tesla cameras can see to enable things like Sentry Mode, Autopilot and FSD Beta, the way with which the cars software interprets this data is sometimes inaccurate enough to the point where I recommend you be super careful not to rely on them too much for close in maneuvering. While the damage you see in this video looks minimal, the front fascia can’t be repaired according to Tesla; the whole front part of the car needs to be replaced. To make matters worse, Tesla’s estimate to fix the minor damages was $2K! Then 1 day after I received the estimate, they told me they won’t do the work and I need to find a body shop to fix the car. Ugghh.
