The Tesla Model Y has literally taken over the world. In 2023, the Model Y was the best selling car, of ANY type (gas, electric, etc). in the entire world! And it’s no surprise when you get your hands on this rocket ship of a crossover.

Over the last couple of months, I have been following pricing and more specifically incentives from Tesla. The Model Y in March had what I thought were the best deals we have had on the Model Y. And that was the case until a couple weeks ago when the Model Y started getting some more love in the form of incentives.
The big deal was obviously with the $7,500 tax credit applying to all Tesla Model Y’s. But recently Tesla released a brand new version of the Model Y, the Long Range Rear Wheel Drive. The Model Y LR RWD comes packed with features, and actually has more range than the more expensive AWD version. This change has brought an opportunity to get into a Model Y for a lot less than you’d expect.
Now, prices are good, incentives are good, but can you really get a Model Y for free? Well, I have discovered a way to get the Tesla Model Y LR RWD in its most basic setup for 3 years for free. This does require leasing the car, but Tesla recently shifted their policy on Leases and you can now buy out the car at the end of the term, which changes a lot of things for all Models.
Specifically for the Model Y, here is what we are looking at. Getting a base Model Y, with $1k inventory discount, $1k Referral Credit and $1k Military Program are the basic things you need to start. Next, you need to have 10 referrals, and if you dont have that, you can invest some of your time at your local service center and chat with the people who are coming in looking at their first Tesla. Every time I am in the local store, there is always a customer looking for a referral code to save themselves some money.
Once these things are in place, you can now lease a Model Y for about $260/mo based on the lease program on hand. However, with the $10k we have in referrals, we are going to buy down that payment, and apply the savings this car provides over a gas equivalent, and by doing so, we will literally have the Model Y for less than the gas you would pay in a comparable crossover SUV.
This is probably the craziest deal I have seen, and if Tesla would allow you to put more money down on the lease, it would be EVEN CHEAPER if thats even possible. So follow these steps, consult your specific tax situation in your state and any possible incentives and you can see for yourself if you too can get into a Model Y for FREE!!!!
