Gigafactory Texas! This is where Model Y’s, and Cyber Truck production happens and soon, the Next Generation Car!

27 September 2024 Giga Texas images! Bag House Plant Taller, Steel Structure Over Casting Receiving

A brisk (refreshing) start to the morning with blue skies, light winds and a lot to see! This is the last weekend before the end of the 3rd quarter, so I hope for the best for Tesla and all the employees working hard around the world to make this a strong quarter of production & deliveries!

In the video introduction, I provide an update on the Boring Company tunnel at Giga Texas and the re-work that has taken place with the road surface panels that provide the drivable surface for vehicles inside the tunnel. In late July and early August, the installed panels were being removed and I noticed many of these had cracked down the middle of each panel. This seemed to be a serious issue as the crews continued to remove all the panels that lined the full length of the tunnel.

Over most of August, back at the Boring Company’s Bastrop, Texas site, work was underway to fix the fiber reinforced concrete design in the panels and then begin test manufacturing and then doing validation testing. Interestingly, on my 24 September 2024, they also began to use these panels in one of the unfinished tunnels at that site, with visible liner trucks entering the tunnel, presumably to install the revised panels and then conduct testing.

During my 25 September Giga Texas drone flight, I noticed many of these revised panels had been delivered to the south part of the Boring Company worksite. These were marked with a “P” indicating they had passed the new validation testing and had dates marked on them from the first few weeks of September.

The tunnel is an important part of the efficient movement of new vehicles form the factory, under the main highway, and to the outbound lot, so this is a great sign Giga Texas may soon be able to begin using the tunnel!

A few highlights to look for in the images and video!

The Bag House Plant on the east side of Casting has grown taller, now rising above the exterior walls of the main factory itself! Steel beams have also been installed connecting the new plant to the original building, providing a route for pipes to enter the building, connecting to the fan units on the exterior Bag House structure. An additional assembly of pipes and equipment has occurred since my previous video.

Just to the north of the Bag House plant, a new steel structure is being assembled over the newly poured concrete slab wit the bridge crane rails and Die loading pads. This structure connects to the original factory and is using the new column mounts we saw under construction on the east side of the new slab.

On the North end electrical switchyard, the slab and catch basin for the 3rd transformer has had all concrete poured and crews were getting ready to remove the wooden forms. A new blast wall that will separate the new transformer from the existing transformers was under construction and will match the existing wall that separates the first and second transformers already in operation.

On the south end, the three tunnels continue to have the exit doors and structure completed while the terraced grade work shows a road surface being prepared for the top level, a walkway on the middle level, and Cyberpond overflow area on the lowest level.

On the far southwest staging lot, we see more steel construction beams arriving along with more large transformers matching the set that have already been on site. This brings the total number of transformers on this side of the site in storage up to over 120.
