I went to Xitang Ancient Water Town the other day for the first time in my long life, and no joke, it was really quite decent. Better than some of the other water towns in the Zhejiang/Jiangsu/Shanghai area… mainly because it wasn’t too crowded and because of the nice covered walkways that none of the other water towns have. This place has over 1000 years of history and it is well lived in, even to this day. One great thing to do while you are there is to dress in Chinese Hanfu and take some cool photos like you are from another era. There is a poster and a QR code for you to scan inside this video if you would like a really killer deal, at only 60 rmb for Chinese Hanfu experience as well as other options, like museums or nightlife at the nice little bars around town.
