Komatsu, the world’s second-largest manufacturer of construction equipment following Caterpillar, has recently unveiled an innovative electric mini excavator in the 3-ton class category.
This cutting-edge electric mini excavator, known as the PC33E-6, boasts a state-of-the-art 115-volt electrical architecture. Specifically designed for the European market, it is equipped with a robust 17.4 kW Komatsu electric motor and a high-capacity 35 kWh Komatsu lithium-ion battery pack.
One of the remarkable advantages of this electric mini excavator is its outstanding performance, surpassing its diesel counterpart. Komatsu proudly claims that the PC33E-6’s over-side lift capacity is more than 40% greater than that of its PC30MR-5 diesel model.
Notably, the PC33E-6 comes with a convenient 400V external charger input, allowing rapid charging from 20% to 100% in just over an hour and a half. This enhances productivity by minimizing downtime and ensuring efficient operation.
Furthermore, Komatsu has taken a step forward in the realm of electric vehicle technology by introducing its own EV charging solutions, including mobile charging tailored specifically for mini-excavators. This ingenious solution is especially suitable for challenging environments where a traditional power supply is unavailable.
