The state posted the strongest gross domestic product (GDP) growth of any non-city state, at 3.3 percent, which is about twice the national average.

According to Steinbach, the manufacturing industry, especially the automotive sector, is the "driver" of this growth. Tesla’s production launch in Grünheide has had a significant impact on the state’s manufacturing sector, which grew by 13.4 percent, the highest growth rate in the country. Despite soaring energy prices and continued supply chain restrictions, the success of Giga Berlin has helped to boost the local economy.

At the end of March, Tesla announced that it had reached production of 5,000 electric vehicles a week at Giga Berlin. The goal for Phase 1 is to produce 500,000 vehicles per year, and at the moment, the company has reached a production capacity of about 250,000 vehicles per year. Tesla is also the largest private employer in the region, with plans to hire 12,000 employees for Phase 1, and as of March, there were more than 10,000.

In the next phase of expansion, Giga Berlin aims to produce another 500,000 vehicles, bringing the total production capacity to 1 million electric vehicles per year. This will not only contribute to Tesla’s growth but will also help Brandenburg to continue developing, maintaining its position as one of the fastest-growing states in Germany.
