Tesla Is About To Deliver a Record Performance in China, But New Strategy Is Need

From Torque News.

Early data suggests that the automaker is on track to achieve an all-time high in sales, cementing its position in this lucrative market.

Industry analyst Shi Ji from China Merchants Bank International Securities revealed that Tesla is projected to deliver approximately 155,000 vehicles in China this quarter. As the quarter approaches its end, this estimate is expected to closely align with actual figures, bolstered by robust performance indicators from insurance data.

Should Tesla achieve this milestone, it would signify a 13% increase from its previous record quarter, which occurred just last quarter.

Nonetheless, despite the imminent achievement of a new sales record, Tesla faces the challenge of stagnation in the crucial Chinese market. In order to sustain growth, the company needs to adopt a fresh strategy tailored to China’s unique landscape. Yale Zhang, Managing Director of Shanghai-based consultancy Automotive Foresight, suggests that Tesla must extend its reach beyond major metropolitan areas, targeting China’s lower-tier cities. However, Zhang contends that the expansion of Tesla’s sales network into hundreds of such cities is hindered by the exorbitant costs associated with building service centers and stores.

Tesla’s pursuit of further growth in China necessitates a reevaluation of its sales model to tap into untapped markets and unlock new avenues for success.
