Tesla Releases “Blown Up” Model Y Video Showing Superb Off-Roading Capability

From Torque News.

Several hours ago Tesla released a new video showcasing how it took the concept of a crossover vehicle and blew up that notion in the Model Y. It also shows Tesla Model Y breakthrough off-roading capability.

Tesla’s new Model Y video, which was posted to YouTube on Tuesday, has already racked up close to half a million views and many comments within hours on Youtube and Twitter.

Responding to Tesla’s new video about the Model Y, a user, named Nicko Swimmer, commented under Tesla’s Youtube channel and wrote "As a mechanical engineer, this is why I stick with Tesla. Top notch engineering based on fundamental principles!"

In the video, Tesla VP of Vehicle Engineering Lars Moravi discusses how the Model Y was designed to be more than just a traditional crossover. He says that Tesla wanted to create a vehicle that offered the same level of storage and utility as a crossover, but with the added capability to go off-road.

To achieve this, Tesla engineers developed a new rear casting process that allows them to create a single, large piece of aluminum for the Model Y’s rear body. This casting is much stronger and more durable than traditional methods, and it also allows Tesla to reduce the number of parts used in the rear of the vehicle.
